Bonnie Slater, CD(BABI)
I am excited to attend my 600th birth some time in 2016. I trained to be a birth doula in 1996 and after experiencing two losses and finally having my son in my arms, I knew that I wanted to hold the emotional and physical space for birth, for others. Helping fathers (and partners) help mamas through labor and witnessing them meet their new baby keeps me looking forward to each and every birth. Birth is a unique experience for each person involved and I strive to make sure that all needs are carefully tended to. I have had the privilege of working with so many amazing families, doctors, midwives, and nurses. I am grateful for being a part of the birth community. In addition to being a birth doula, I teach individualized, private childbirth classes and provide birth, family and underwater photography. In my free time I can be found practicing yoga, hiking with friends, creating art with my daughter and spending time with family.
